The Social Moire – Affordable Co-Working Space
By Liudmila Sergeeva
Co-Working Space Office buildings in Los Angeles typically have high energy consumption intensity. As a result, low-income communities across the Los Angeles area cannot afford to build them and use for their needs. However, by adapting certain design strategies and incorporating PV panels it is possible sufficiently reduce the energy demand. To prove proposed design principles of the Social Moiré project – Affordable Co-Working Space and Education Center, it was used DesignBuilder platform to make a VE model of the project and evaluate the building performance. The project was done in Revit BIM Application and model was exported to the DesignBuilder. Final energy analysis includes the building envelope, exterior walls, overhangs, and glazing type proposals as well as HVAC systems and PV panels demand to approach net-zero protocol.
