THE NET

The project brings back the once pedestrian-friendly Spanish colonial plan and superimposes it on top of the current site map. It creates an elevated streetscape with an entirely different scale , catered to the distances, slopes, and directions that humans can navigate comfortably. The collision of the two grids makes way for triangular intersections, reminiscent of a medieval city’s plaza plan. The intersections function as new plaza and park spaces for the elevated streetscape, while extruded down to the ground level to activate the sidewalk and offer supportive programs for the homeless population.
